Best Time to Visit Ciudad de la Paz

Two dry spells, two wet ones

Ciudad de la Paz sits inland in the Djibloho region, on the mainland part of Equatorial Guinea. It's a new, planned city set in rainforest country. Temperatures barely move all year. It's warm and sticky every month, with highs of 26 to 29°C and cool-ish nights.

What changes is the rain. The wettest stretch is October and November, when it rains almost every day and October is the heaviest month. March to May is nearly as wet. December to February is a little drier, but still damp and grey. Sun is scarce all year, so expect cloud even when it isn't pouring.

July is your best bet

July is the clear winner. It has the least rain of the year and rain falls on only about eight days. Roads and forest tracks are easier, and you'll get more dry hours for walking around the city's wide avenues and government buildings.

June and August are fair. Both still see showers on about half the days, but you can plan outdoor time around them. If you're thinking of a day trip into the surrounding forest, aim for these three months. Wet-season tracks can turn to mud fast, and heavy rain makes travel slow.

Don't expect a dry, sunny holiday even in July. It's the best of a damp set, not a desert break.

Crowds, events and practical planning

Ciudad de la Paz isn't a tourist destination in the usual sense. You won't find a peak season with packed hotels. Visits tend to be driven by business, government or onward travel, so timing is mostly about weather and getting around.

If you're travelling with kids, or you just hate being rained on, avoid October and November. Flights and road journeys are more likely to be slowed down then, so leave spare days.

For events, the big dates are national ones. Independence Day falls on 12 October, and it lands in the wettest month. Official celebrations are usually centred on the main cities, so don't count on a large public party here. Check locally before you plan a trip around it.

If you want a calm visit with the best odds of dry hours, pick July. Pack a proper rain jacket whatever the month.
