The Bath Half Marathon is usually held in March. It brings runners and spectators into the city, and road closures can affect getting around on race day. Check the event date before choosing where to stay or planning a drive through Bath.

There's no need to let a rainy afternoon spoil your visit. Spend it at the Roman Baths, then find a cosy table for a Bath bun, a sweet local treat, near the Abbey.

Crowds and costs

March is quieter than Bath's summer high season, especially compared with June to September. Accommodation can cost less than in those peak months, though the Half Marathon may make race weekend busier. If you hate crowds, choose a midweek visit away from the event.
