March: warm days, hot afternoons

Aurangabad is already hot in March. Afternoons reach about 36°C, while evenings cool down to around 19°C. The air is fairly dry, and rain is rare, so you can expect plenty of sun.

Mornings suit outdoor sightseeing best. Visit Ellora Caves or Bibi Ka Maqbara before the afternoon heat builds, then spend the hottest hours somewhere shaded. Holi and the season

March sits between Aurangabad's cooler November-to-January high season and the stronger heat of April. Crowds and room rates are often gentler than in winter, though conditions vary around holidays. Families with young children may prefer shorter cave visits and a quiet break during the hottest part of the day.

A local tip

For Ellora, plan time for Kailasa Temple, the vast rock-cut temple at Cave 16. The site is spread out, and walking between its carvings in the afternoon sun can wear you down. Keep your visit focused rather than trying to see every cave in one stretch.

At Bibi Ka Maqbara, the garden paths offer a calmer stop later in the day, when the light softens across the white marble. March has long, sunny days, but you'll enjoy the sights more when you work around the heat instead of pushing through it.
