Mild days by the sea

December feels mild in Alexandria, with daytime highs around 21°C and nights near 13°C. You'll get some sun, but clouds are common, and rain falls on several days. A passing shower can interrupt a walk, rather than spoil the whole day.

It's a good month for the Corniche, Qaitbay Citadel and Montaza Palace gardens. The cooler air also makes wandering central Alexandria more comfortable than in summer. A quieter winter visit

For dinner, head towards Anfushi for seafood near the harbour. December's cooler evenings suit a relaxed meal indoors after a coastal walk. The month is wetter than November, so don't count on clear skies every day; January is wetter still.
