February weather in Ajaccio

February feels cool and changeable in Ajaccio. Days reach around 12°C, while evenings dip to 8°C. Rain falls on about 10 days, and clouds often soften the light over the Gulf of Ajaccio. You'll still get some sunny spells, but this isn't reliable beach weather.

It's a good month for wandering the old town, visiting Maison Bonaparte and lingering over lunch near Place Foch. On clear days, a coastal walk along the Sanguinaires road can be lovely. Skip plans that depend on a long beach day or a clear view from the islands: showers and cloud can spoil both.

What's on, and how busy is it?

February doesn't have a major fixed festival in Ajaccio. Mardi Gras falls on a different date each year, so any carnival events depend on the calendar. French school winter holidays are also staggered, and some families may visit during their break.

If you hate crowds, you'll usually find the old town quieter than in summer. February is low season, so stays often cost less than during the busy summer months. Some businesses and seasonal boat services may have reduced hours, though, so the city can feel quieter in the evenings too.

Make the most of a winter visit

Use a rainy spell for the Fesch Museum, known for its Italian paintings, then stop for a warm meal in the old town. Corsican menus often feature brocciu, a fresh local cheese; ask whether it's available in a seasonal dish.

Travelling with kids? Maison Bonaparte gives you an easy indoor stop close to the harbour. Check its winter opening hours before setting out, as they can differ from summer hours. If the sky clears, take the Sanguinaires road for sea views, but don't count on a boat trip running in winter.
