Events and summer crowds

Queens Pride usually brings a parade and festival to Jackson Heights in June. The Queens Night Market also runs on Saturday evenings at Flushing Meadows Corona Park, with food stalls and local vendors. Juneteenth, on June 19, is a federal holiday; some services and opening hours may change.

June is busier than spring's quieter weeks, as summer visitors begin arriving. It's generally less crowded than July and August, but demand is rising, and hotels can cost more than in the cooler shoulder months. September is another good-weather month, so June isn't your only choice.

Make the most of your visit

For the Night Market, take the 7 train to Mets–Willets Point and follow signs toward the park. It's a handy way to avoid hunting for parking, and you can browse food stalls before the evening gets late. Carry a small umbrella for the walk between the station and the market; rain is common enough to catch you out.
