Puerto Princesa Weather in March

March: warm and mostly sunny

March feels hot, humid and bright, with warm nights and some showers. Rain falls on several days, but the month is still one of Puerto Princesa's best for weather. February is a little cooler and drier; April is hotter and wetter.

You can take a boat trip around Honda Bay or visit the Underground River in Sabang. The sun also suits time at Nagtabon Beach, though the heat can make long walks around the city tiring. Save exposed sightseeing for cooler parts of the day, and don't count on every afternoon staying dry.

Balayong Festival

The Balayong Festival takes place around March 4, Puerto Princesa's cityhood anniversary. It brings local celebrations and events to town, so the city can feel busier around the festivities. Dates and activities can vary from year to year.

Families may enjoy the festival's local feel, but the heat and humidity can be tough on young children during outdoor events. Look for shaded spots near the celebration, and take breaks between activities.

Crowds and local tips

March is a popular time to visit, since it's part of the dry-season high season and has excellent conditions for trips. Expect more visitors and firmer prices than in wetter months. It's not as hot as April, but February is usually a slightly quieter-feeling alternative.

For the Underground River, tours leave from Sabang and visitor permits are limited. Arrange your permit through an authorized tour operator before travelling there; turning up without one can mean missing the trip. Pack a little patience for the drive to Sabang, too.
